GDPR and data protection

How data collected by robots and by our business systems is handled.

What data is involved

Service robots typically use LiDAR and camera-based sensors for navigation and obstacle avoidance. Depending on the model and configuration, this can include capturing images of the environment they operate in.

Fresh Mango Robotics also processes ordinary business data as part of support and account management — such as contact details, contracts and support tickets.

Who is responsible for what

Keenon designs the sensors and on-device software that determine what data a robot can technically capture and how it is processed on the device.

Fresh Mango Robotics advises customers on configuration choices at installation and handles data we hold as a UK supplier (contracts, support records) in line with UK data protection law.

The customer, as data controller for their own premises, is responsible for deciding how a robot is deployed on their site, informing staff and visitors as required, and for their own data protection registration and policies.

Statement

We do not describe our practices as 'GDPR compliant' as a blanket claim, because compliance depends on how a specific business uses a specific robot on its own site. We can discuss configuration options and data-minimisation settings during the site survey.

Is Fresh Mango Robotics the data controller for footage captured on my premises?

No. As the site operator, you are generally the data controller for how a robot is used on your premises. We can help explain the technical options available.
