What is Commercial Robot Vacuum?
A commercial robot vacuum is a larger, more durable version of a domestic robot vacuum, built to clean carpeted commercial spaces such as offices, hotels and care homes on a repeatable schedule.
Last reviewed:
Commercial robot vacuums are purpose-built for continuous, scheduled use rather than occasional home cleaning. They carry larger dust capacities, stronger suction, longer battery life and more robust navigation than domestic models, and are designed to run every night without supervision across larger floor areas.
They suit carpeted and mixed-flooring commercial environments — offices, hotel corridors, care homes, gyms — where daily vacuuming is currently a manual, time-consuming task. Scheduling is usually done through a fleet management app, so the same route runs automatically at the same time each day.
As with floor scrubbers, a robot vacuum works best as part of a wider cleaning plan rather than a total replacement for staff, particularly where edges, stairs or heavy soiling still need manual attention.
Common questions
- How is a commercial robot vacuum different from a domestic one?
- It has greater capacity, longer runtime, sturdier build quality and fleet management software suited to scheduled, unattended commercial use.
- Can it empty itself?
- Many commercial models dock and self-empty automatically, and some also self-clean brushes, reducing the manual intervention needed between shifts.
- What size site is a robot vacuum suitable for?
- They suit anywhere from a few hundred to several thousand square metres of carpeted or mixed flooring, depending on the model and shift pattern.
