What is Robot Service Life?
Service life is the expected number of years a commercial robot can operate reliably before major components need replacing or the unit is retired.

Commercial robots are built for continuous duty in a way domestic equipment isn't, and typical service life for a well-maintained unit runs into several years of daily operation. Actual life depends heavily on duty cycle, floor conditions, maintenance schedule and how many hours a day the robot actually runs.
Batteries are usually the first major component to need replacement, followed by brushes, wheels and sensors, all of which are considered wear items rather than defects. A robot's overall service life is extended significantly by routine maintenance — brush and filter changes, sensor cleaning, software updates — much of which is included under a RaaS or maintenance contract.
When comparing suppliers, ask what's covered under warranty versus what counts as a wear item, and what the expected battery replacement interval is, since this materially affects total cost of ownership over the life of the contract.
